The sunny days are a welcome change to the cold weather we have been experiencing and it’s great to see students enjoying the sun and playing sports outside. Our lunchtime activities are proving very popular and assist in creating a sense of belonging and engagement.
A big thank you to all the students and families who attended. It is a positive experience to meet with families and celebrate student success and progress, as well as set some goals for this semester. If you were unable to attend, please contact the relevant teacher or Year Level Coordinators if you would like to discuss your child’s progress.
This day is provided to staff to plan and prepare classes, mark student assessments, moderate student marks and the development of units of study. This is a student free day apart from Year 12 students whose classes will run as per normal.
The focus of this day will be the development of our new pastoral care program for 2025. This new initiative, entitled “Connect” is a framework to support students to develop the whole person. Students will continue to be provided with a safe nurturing environment, which focuses on providing opportunities for students to develop their social and emotional capabilities. Staff will select year levels to work with and this will help develop strong relationships over time and support students to develop their individual identity and reach their goals. We aim to further cultivate young people with the resilience, independence and confidence to fulfil their potential. More information regarding the structure of the program will be provided later in the year.
Year 7 students will be receiving their immunisations from Barwon Health. Students are to wear sports uniforms. Parents are encouraged to ensure they have completed the immunisation forms that have been posted on Compass.
Year 10 students, during Week 3, completed their Careers Week which concluded with their subject selections and choosing their Senior School pathway. For the first time, an information night for students and parents was held at the beginning of the week explaining the intricacies of subjects, pathways and language that will appear over the next two years. This was a big success, and we will look to continue this session in years to come.
The following week, Year 9 students had their subject selections which included participation in the Geelong Tertiary Futures Program. The students were excited to have more selections to choose from in Year 10 and can start to map their strengths and interests more closely with the subjects they enrol in.
