Curriculum Overview

Learning @ NGSC

At North Geelong Secondary College, we pride ourselves on the delivery of our guaranteed and viable curriculum which outlines how, in line with the Victorian Curriculum, we combine the evidence based teaching and learning models put forward by Hattie, Pearson & Gallagher, and the Department of Education (DE), while providing the best possible learning outcomes for our students. Our staff work collaboratively to ensure that all students get the most out of their learning experience and achieve the best possible outcomes.

The Years 7 and 8 curriculum provides students with a solid foundation for future learning by building sequential knowledge and skill development in English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and LOTE (German and Japanese). The College has a vibrant Arts, Technology and Design program where students enjoy a range of creative learning experiences. The Health and Physical Education (HAPE) program places a strong emphasis on active participation and healthy lifestyles. We offer a range of opportunities for students to maximise their potential through learning.

Year 9 and 10 students are required to undertake core studies in English, Maths, Science, Humanities and HAPE. They also have opportunities to select from a broad range of elective subjects from different learning areas as they progressively take more responsibility for their own learning.
